Quick Thoughts on…Nature Connection

We all connect with nature in different ways, and they are all valid.

You can prefer to pee inside and still enjoy being outside.

You can simultaneously love your mattress and the mountains, A/C and the AT, Netflix and beaver-chewed sticks.

The depth of your love for the earth and its creatures is not proven by the distance you roam from ‘civilization’ into the ‘wilderness.’

Carry on, nature lovers.

  1. So true. The throngs of people on any given trail are not necessarily admiring nature or seeking to protect it although I’m sure if asked they would say so Many just want their kids to disconnect from technology and do something healthy. Outdoor adventures help us challenge ourselves is so many ways Hopefully we take the time to just “be” with nature. Even though I am outside all the time I actually connect the most meditating on my back porch.

  2. Oh how true! Many associate nature with wilderness, which is the mother of all nature. But nature exists everywhere, even the dandelion poking out of a sidewalk crack in the depths of New York City. And science and spirituality are not mutually exclusive.
During a therapy session, a patient said “I don’t believe in miracles.” I told her “when you leave the clinic and walk to your car look at every tree, flower, person, squirrel, ant, and bee. These are all miracles.”
Science and spirituality focus on the same stuff; they just look at stuff in different ways. That’s just part of human Nature!
